Ruapehu Volcano Cam

Looking for the Mt. Ruapehu Volcano Cam?

Well it's not here any more.  In fact it hasn't been here for a long time.

Actrix hosted one of the first online volcano cams back in 1996-8.  You can check out the state of the web back then using the waybackmachine.  For details of the original page see here.

The interest was triggered by the September 1995 to August 1996 eruptions.  During the 1996 eruption there was a 20 km high ash plume; wind then carried this ash as far north as Kerikeri and south to Marlborough. Eleven airports were closed and flights were diverted around the 'danger zone'.

In fact you are probably looking for the new Geonet Volcano Cams which have been in the news in more recent times for the appearance of 'dino' by the White Island Crater.
