VDSL (Very High-Speed Digital Subscriber) uses the normal copper phone line to transmit data at a much higher frequency than ADSL. If you are within 1km of a capable roadside cabinet or exchange switching to VDSL Broadband will vastly increase your upload and download speeds.
VDSL broadband can achieve download speeds that are on average 3 times faster than ADSL and upload speeds of up to 9 times faster. This allows you to connect multiple computers and devices at the same time without noticing a slow down of the connection. The huge increase in upload speed means that you can upload photos and videos or send large emails much faster than you could with ADSL. It is also a real advantage when working remotely as you can eliminate any lag time you may have previously experienced.
VDSL is now available on 60% broadband capable phone lines. To check if VDSL is available at your address simply use our Address Finder. A standard VDSL installation is free. Equipment
Not all broadband routers/modems are VDSL capable. If you are unsure if your current router can handle VDSL just make a note of the make and model number and give our helpful support team a call on freephone 0800 228 749 and they will answer any questions you might have. If it turns out that you need a VDSL capable router these are available during our online signup.
We have a great range VDSL data plans to fit every requirement. You can include your phone line as a bundle or exclude the phone line and go with a naked vdsl connection. To check availability at your address click on "Set Address" beneath the Plan Chooser below. For business connections please see the business plans. If you are in an urban area it may be worth considering Ultra Fast Broadband and VoIP as the next step up.
